Janet S. Brack, 59, of Great Bend, died Oct. 20 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1951, at Maryville, Mo., the daughter of Rolla and Helen (Blacketer) Rankin. She married Greg Brack on July 29, 1992, at Great Bend, after sharing their lives since 1984. She worked for BMI as a claim processor and was a social worker and elementary schoolteacher for many years. Mrs. Brack was a longtime Barton County resident, coming from Norton. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, gardening and her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Brack, of the home; her father, Rolla Rankin of Newton; one son, Cally Piland and wife Emily of Peosta, Iowa; two daughters, Amanda Piland and husband David of Centennial, Colo., and Jamie Peschka and husband Thomas of Great Bend; two sisters, Catherine Rankin and companion Roman Theis of Newton and Patricia Rankin of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Mark Rankin and wife LeAnna of Pratt and Steve Rankin and wife Cindy of Newton; and six grandchildren, Zac Piland, Cally Piland, Jr., Rolla Piland, Claira Piland, Jacob Peschka and Logan Peschka.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with Pastor Jack Sweeney officiant. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations to a memorial fund for the Hungry Heart Soup Kitchen may be made in care of the funeral home.
