Jenny Lee Arwood 1944—2011
LYONS — Jenny Lee Arwood, 96, died April 5 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born April 6, 1914 in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of Charles Aubrey and Leona Bartlett Davies. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1932 and in 1934 from Hutchinson Junior College. A resident of Lyons since 1944, she was a retired dietician for the Lyons District Hospital. On Aug. 5, 1934 she married James Waldo Arwood in Hutchinson. He died on Oct. 18, 2002.
Mrs. Arwood was a member of the Lyons First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Daughters of American Revolution, the Priscilla Club, 4-H, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, H.D.U., and Quilters groups all in Lyons and Hutchinson.
Survivors include a son, Jim, Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Nancy Arwood, Denver, Colo., Polly Delehant, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Sally Beydler, Hutchinson; a sister, Edna Swinton, Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Bolton; two brothers, Robert and Jim Davies; and a sister, Mary Frances Engel.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Lyons with the Rev. Dr. Quentin Bennett officiating. Burial will be at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Lyons Good Samaritan center or the Rice County Community Foundation, all in care of the funeral home.
