GREAT BEND -- Jerome F. "Jerry" Becker, 75, died March 18 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1936, at Fullerton, Neb., the son of Hubert and Ann (Stavas) Becker. He married Sheila Ann Brenner, Oct. 22, 1960, at Denver, Colo. He was owner and operator of Becker Shoe Repair in Great Bend for 38 years, and Becker Shoe Repair in Denver for 14 years.
Mr. Becker was a Great Bend resident since 1973, coming from Denver, Colo. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a United States Army Reserve veteran.
Survivors include his mother, Ann Becker, Denver, Colo.; his wife, Sheila Ann Becker, of the home; two sons, Dwayne Becker and his wife Kimberly, Great Bend; Ken Becker and his wife Angie, Great Bend; four daughters, Janet Degenhardt and her husband David, Great Bend; Cammie Heier and her husband Harvey, Grainfield; Kerry Feist and her husband David, Aurora, Colo.; Jerrie Ann Mull and her husband Tobin, Great Bend; a sister, Mary Ann Platte, Parker, Colo.; six brothers, Bob Becker, Green Valley, Ariz.; Tom Becker, Aurora, Colo.; Don Becker, Denver, Colo.; Mike Becker, Aurora, Colo.; Art Becker, Cozad, Neb.; Ed Becker, Denver, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, Nathan Degenhardt, Alicia Degenhardt, Deanna (Heier) Farber, Brandon Heier, Landon Heier, Kade Heier, Blaine Becker, Lindsey Hodges, Skylar McBride, Wesley Feist, Shana Feist, Michelle Mull, Aaron Mull, Kyle Ratcliffe, and Kody Cannon; and 11 great-grandchildren, Kaden Degenhardt, Jacob Degenhardt, Luke Degenhardt, Ian Farber, MaKenna Farber, Brayden Farber, Alana Truong, Chloe McBride, Rayne Hodges, Gage Hodges and Darius McBride.
He was preceded in death by his father and by one brother, Ron Becker.
A vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Don Bedore and Father Reginald A. Urban officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North with military honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
