ROZEL — Jerome (Joe) A. Sauer, 85, died March 10 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Sept. 8, 1928, in Antonino, he was the son of Anton and Pauline Rupp Sauer. On Nov. 24, 1949, he married Martha L. Arnold at Rozel. She passed away on Sept. 10, 2012. A resident of Rozel, he was a retired farmer and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Sauer was a member of the Rozel United Methodist Church, Kinsley Gun Club, La Crosse Gun Club and the Larned Gun Club.
Survivors include, a son, Dennis Sauer of Rozel; two daughters, Joleen Tomlinson of Austell, Ga. and Karin Rexroad of Salina; a brother, Fritz Sauer of Garden City; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, I.A. Sauer; and three sisters, Irene Leiker, Katie Dodson and Albertine Stewart.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rozel Cemetery, with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned.
