Jerry Mitchell Jones, 76, died July 24, at Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson. Born Dec. 13, 1937, in Hutchinson, he was the son of Ray and Marjorie (Swann) Jones. On March 12, 1958, he married Nelta Irene Simpson in Great Bend. She died on Dec. 3, 1997. A lifetime resident of Great Bend and Seward, he was the owner and operator of the J&J Cafe in Seward until 1997.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include two sons, Mitchell R. Jones and his wife Angela of Great Bend, and Tony Lee Jones and his wife Monica of Chandler, Ariz.; one daughter, Candace Suiter-Grabski and her husband Doug of Gilbert, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Bryant Funeral Home with Robert Espinosa, Jehovah’s Witness, officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids in care of the funeral home.
