ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Jim (J.D.) Cameron, 77, died on Feb. 26, 2017. Born July 13, 1939, in Bellville, he was the son of Loraine and Stedman Cameron. In 1997, he moved to Alamogordo, N.M., coming from Kansas after retiring from UPS. Jim was an avid golfer, so the weather here gave him the opportunity to play gold year around (his dream comes true). His love for golf was so big, he worked as a grounds keeper at the Country Club golf course in Kansas, the Lodge golf course in Cloudcroft, N.M. and Desert Lakes here in Alamogordo, N.M. Jim was a great handy man. He worked at Kings Treasurer thrift store for the past 10 years, repairing anything that was donated. Most people knew Jim as the candy man. He gave a mint to everyone he came in contact with. He never met a stranger.
Mr. Cameron was a member of the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Marge; daughter Deborah Cameron of Irrigon, Ore.; Jacque Farleschini and son-in-law Larry, of Jefferson, Ore.; Kimberly Carter of Alamogordo, N.M.; brother Jack of La Luz, N.M.; sister Dora Jean Henderson of Sylvan Grove; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Jay Cameron.
Jim was cremated and there will not be a memorial service at this time. He will be dearly missed by many.
