HOLYROOD — Joan B. Krier, 88, died Aug. 22, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System, Great Bend Campus. She was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Redwing, Kan., the daughter of Anthony P. and Veronica (Meyeres) Francis. Joan was a 1950 graduate of Odin High School.  

On June 11, 1952, she married Vernon Krier in Olmitz, Kan. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1982.  

A homemaker, having lived in Holyrood, Hitschmann, and Claflin, before retiring in Great Bend. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holyrood and a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society.

Survivors include five children, Darryl Krier and wife Ronda of Ellinwood, Barbara Krier of Great Bend, Jay Krier of rural Claflin, Verna Montoya and husband Chris of Holyrood, Jodi Baltizore and husband Tyler of Hoisington; a sister, Delores Bieberle-Westbrook of Hoisington; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Michael J. and Patrick J. Krier; and daughter-in-law, Bennie Krier; five brothers, Leonard, Edward, Bud, Ray, and Bernard Francis; and two sisters, Margaret Gates and Martha Francis.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Rosary and Vigil will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25th, 2021, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel. Family will greet friends starting at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, Kan., celebrated by Father Terrance Klein. Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery.
