WICHITA — Johanna Anna Brodie, 84, passed away Feb. 27, 2022, at Encompass Hospice in Wichita. She was born May 29, 1937, at Loretta, Kan. to Joseph and Josephine (Pfannenstiel) Urban. She married Delmer Brodie on Nov. 9, 1957, at Hoisington. He died Dec. 20, 2006.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Johanna worked in chemical line production at Fuller Brush Industries for over 30 years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Johanna enjoyed embroidery, sewing, quilting, collecting ceramics and loved to decorate for the holidays. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include, a son, Troy Brodie and wife Michelle of Mason, Ohio; a daughter, Terra Raybern of Hutchinson; three brothers, Melvin Urban of Ellinwood, Arsenius Urban of Great Bend and Joseph Urban, Jr. of Dodge City; three sisters, Twila Kush of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lorraine Wedman and Alberta Klein both of Wichita; five grandchildren, Jana Armbruster, Jeff Raybern and wife Patricia, Jeremy Raybern and wife Bobbie, Blake Brodie and wife Jordyn and Aaron Brodie; and 19 great grandchildren, Kyler Evans, Kinzie Williams, Kale Williams, Blaklee Armbruster, Brayton Armbruster, Madison Raybern, Abigail Raybern, Gage Raybern, Decklynn Raybern, Nicolette Raybern, Taylor Raybern, McKynlea Raybern, Easton Raybern, Maclynn Raybern, Maggie Raybern, Marci Raybern, Reese Brodie, Luke Brodie and Ella Brodie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Delmer Brodie; two brothers, Julius Urban and Ervin Urban; and three sisters, Lillian Beck, Dolores Harris and Virginia Zimmerman.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Father Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
