KANSAS CITY, Mo. — John E. Gannaway, 76, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Ellinwood, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 12, 5:30-6:30. Memorial Mass 6:30. Refreshments to follow at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, Mo. Private family inurnment in Ellinwood at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church or North Kansas City Hospital Auxiliary.
John was born Aug. 3, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Porter and Martha Shipman Gannaway. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. John was the former owner operator of Gannaway Hardware in Ellinwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha Jean Gannaway. John married Phyllis Bryant Gannaway, Oct 17, 1981 in Ellinwood, she survives of the home. Other survivors, children Jennifer Gannaway Havelka, husband Mark, Liberty, Mo., Barbie Gannaway Scheuerman, husband Merle, Ellinwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandhildren.
