ENID, Okla. — Graveside services for John Forshee, 71, of Enid, will be Friday, Sept. 4, 2020 at 1 p.m. in Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla. under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid, Okla.
John was born on July 1, 1949 in Great Bend, Kan. to Lytle Edgar and Loretta Teresa Malone Forshee and died Aug. 24, 2020 in Enid, Okla. He grew up in Chase, Kan. and graduated from Chase High School, a proud member of the Class of 1967.
John enlisted in the USAF, stationed in Biloxi, Miss. and Vance AFB. He retired from civil service as an Inspector at the Traffic Management Office at Vance AFB. John married Jean Workman on Dec. 30, 1986 in Enid.
He loved collecting anything concerning John Wayne, Elvis and the US Presidents. John was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Church at Vance AFB, later at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean on Feb. 4, 2015; parents. He is survived by his children, Jon Paul (Ericka) and Mary Mclean; step children, Datha (Bill) Cottingham, Dana (Dan) Newton, Mike (Erin) Workman; grandchildren, Chance and Justin Mclean, Scott Cottingham, Katelyn (Jared) Tabor, Jennifer (Tyler) Grimes, Jeremy Newton, Nicole (Jacob) Traxler, Mikaela Workman; great grandchildren, Aurora, Clara, Jake, Wyatt and Korbyn; brothers, Ron (Pat) Forshee, Kent (Theresa) Forshee; sister, Elaine (Rod) Straub; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
