John Lee, 68, died July 23, 2013 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 17, 1944 at Howard, the son of Leland E. and Ila (Pontious) Lee.
He married Cindy Meyer Feb. 14, 1982 at Laverne’s Marriage Parlor, Miami, Okla.  He was a driller and roughneck for Mohawk Drilling, Pickrell Drilling, and White and Ellis Drilling; was a corrections officer for Larned Mental Health Correctional Facility; and retired as a mental health technician for Larned State Hospital.
Mr. Lee was a long time Great Bend resident. He was a veteran of both the United States Navy and United States Army. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by wife Cindy Lee, of the home; four sons: Johnny Lee and wife Brandi of Augusta, James Lee and wife Carey of Augusta, Chris Stephens and wife Joelle of Overland Park, Travis Lee of Great Bend; one daughter: Melissa Adelhardt of Great Bend and fiance Chad Leiker;; three half brothers: Eddie Lee of Texas, Frankie Lee of Texas, Lonnie Lee of Oregon; three half sisters: Sharon Evans of Colo., Shirley Myers of Texas, and Carol Lane of Colo.; eleven grandchildren:  Nicole, Kendall, Taylor, Gracie, Jordan, Caelei, Tanner, Reagan, Alexa, Tristan, and Breanna; and two great-grandchildren:  Gabrielle and Jaxon. He was preceded in death by one brother, James C. Lee; and one half brother, Terry Lee.
The funeral service is at 10 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with The Reverend James A. Strasen officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home.
