ELLINWOOD — John Luebbers (Luebbs), 67, died Aug. 1, 2011, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington.
He was born Sept. 11, 1943, at Great Bend, the son of Henry and Josephine (Straub) Luebbers. He married Joan Boor Aug. 16, 1969, at Odin. The lifelong Ellinwood resident worked for Hartman Oil Company as a pumper
Mr. Luebbers was a member of Ellinwood Knights of Columbus No. 1187 and the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in the oil field, spending time with family and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter: Staci Urban and husband Travis, Hoisington; two sisters, JoAnn Bieberle and husband Clarence, Hoisington; and Alice Smith, Garber, Okla.; a brother, Norbert Luebbers and wife Ann, Ellinwood; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law John and Josephine Boor; and four sisters, Annette Mall, Bea Mooney, Dorothy Mae Bishop and Louise Schreifles.
A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, with Father Ultan Murphy, celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Odin. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Cemetery Fund, Odin, in care of the funeral home.
