FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Josefina Vasquez de Castillo, 78, passed away at Lutheran Hospice Collier in Wheatridge, Colo. on Sept. 18th, 2022. Born on Aug. 10, 1944 in Mexico she was the daughter of Flavio and Rosa (Lujan) Vasquez. She moved to Yuma, Colo. in 1969 later moving to Ellinwood, Kan. in August 1986 and always considered Kansas her home. She was a homemaker a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Josefina lost her husband of 56 years on Aug. 23, 2020, and moved to Colorado shortly after due to health concerns.  

Survivors include daughters, Norma (Bill) Rapagnani, Fort Collins, Colo. and Sandra (Dan) Coil, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; son, Fred (Marina) Castillo, Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, William Colton (Claudia) Rapagnani, Analeese Rose Rapagnani, Shannon (Landon) Cook, Kyler Castillo (Kami), Madison Castillo, Aniston Jo and Maxwell Coil; great-grandchildren, William Holden Rapagnani, Carter and Taber Cook, Graceleigh and Rhett Castillo. Josefina is also survived by siblings Heriberto Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Santos Villegas, Miguel Vasquez, Olivia Vasquez, and Flavio Vasquez. 

Mass of Christian burial will take place 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ellinwood on Saturday, Sept. 24th. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan. Public visitation will take place from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Minis Chapel in Ellinwood, Kan. on Sept. 23rd  with Altar society Rosary at 3 p.m. and Rosary/Vigil service at 7 p.m. both at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hospice Collier in 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheatridge, CO 80033.
