Joseph H. Hanks Jr., 81, died Jan. 11 at his home in Great Bend. Born July 11, 1931 in Emporia, he was the son of Joseph Howard Sr. and Edith (Yarger) Hanks. On Nov. 6, 1952 he married Ruth V. Eisenhower in ElDorado. She died on March 8, 2001. A Great Bend resident for six years, coming from Las Vegas, Nev., he was employed by the City of San Diego, Calif. as a mechanic.
Mr. Hanks was a United States Air Force veteran.
Survivors include one son, Hank Price and his wife Joyce of Goddard; one daughter, Teresa Coleman and her husband Daniel of Great Bend; one sister, Millie Jacot and her husband Kenny of Rice, Wash.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Hanks and Lester Hanks; one sister, Blanche Robinson; and one grandson, Kevin Coleman Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
