Joseph “Joe” Delaine Levingston

Joseph “Joe” Delaine Levingston, 77, passed away Feb. 25, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born on Aug. 24, 1942, at Hays to William C. and Bona Jane (Desmarteau) Levingston. He married Debbie Young on Feb. 20, 1983, at Pawnee Rock. She survives.   

A lifetime Barton county resident, Joe came to Great Bend from Pawnee Rock. He was a drilling supervisor for Duke Drilling. Joe was a member of the American Legion and the Kansas Oil & Gas Museum. He was a very honest, hardworking and patriotic man that decorated his yard with over 500 flags for patriotic holidays. Joe loved golfing, his flowers, yard work, and going to the lake. He served in the United States Army. Joe was a family man and especially loved his grandbabies.

Survivors include, his wife, Debbie of the home; two sons, Robert Levingston and wife Sue, and Danen Levingston, all of Great Bend; three daughters, Sherry Axman and husband Steve of Great Bend, Susan Marley and companion Doyle Lippert of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Megan Shields and husband Brandon of Kansas City, MO.; a brother, William “Bo” Levingston and wife Cindy of Great Bend; two sisters, Sandra Supinski of Pahrump, Nev., and Debra Ernest and husband Michael of Hoisington; 21 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Bona Jane Levingston; a daughter, Diana Trimmer; a son in law, John Trimmer; and a brother in law, Lou Supinski; and four great grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend, on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Riders. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Oil & Gas Museum and Hall of Fame or American Heart Association, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
