LAWRENCE — Kathryn M. Smith, 87, Lawrence, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013.
Kathryn was born on January 20, 1926 in WaKeeney, the daughter of Benjamin Frank and Bertha Maude (Morgan) Chalk.
She attended Fort Hays and Kansas State University and was a receptionist for the Great Bend Tribune newspaper.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend and a member of Eastern Star in Great Bend.
Mrs. Smith was married to Charles Max Smith on Oct. 19, 1947 in WaKeeney.  He preceded her in death in 2000.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, Erich G. and Cynthia Smith, Trophy Club, Texas, Kirk D. and Frederica Smith, Wells, Texas, Mark J. and Bunny Smith, Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Ratliff, Erica Park, Megan Smith, Forrest Tipps, Sarah Scott, Scott D. Smith, Drew A. Smith; and six great grandchildren, Lary and Erich Ratliff, Kierstan Smith, Tristan Graham, Lyndee and Joseph Park.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Arthur Chalk; and a daughter-in-law, Eleanor Coshow Smith
Private inurnment will be held at a later date.  
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association – Heart of America Chapter and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
