Kenneth Harold Allen, 86, died July 31, at Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend. Born July 4, 1928, in Great Bend, he was the son of James Martin and Bertha (Piel) Allen. On April 28, 1952, he married Maude Evalene Russell in Salem, Ark. She died on Aug. 8, 2007. A lifetime resident of Great Bend he was a carpenter for Marlette Homes.
Mr. Allen was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Morris-McFadden Post #3111 in Great Bend. He attended First Assembly of God.
Survivors include one son, Barry Allen of Great Bend; three daughters, Linda Nye and her husband Mike of Wichita, Carol Dykes and her husband Jeff of Salina, and Cheryl Mansheim and her husband Mark of Olathe; four grandchildren, Janelle Krutzsch, Johnny Dykes, Michelle Routh, and Christina Bosworth; and six great-grandchildren, Kaytlin, Haley, Maddie, Jonathan, Andrew, and Piper. He was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Allen; and one sister, Dorothy Chism.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Don Paden officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery North with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., today at Bryant Funeral Home.
