Leta (Maxine) Yeager

LARNED — Leta (Maxine) Yeager, 90, passed away Oct. 11, 2020 at Diversicare of Larned.

She was born April 5, 1930 in Great Bend, Kan., the daughter of Albert B. and Leta Ross Clawson. A longtime area resident, she was a homemaker, loved going metal detecting with her kids and she devoted her whole life to her family, husband, children, grandchildren and loved them all very much.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, enjoyed crocheting, working with flowers in her yard, feeding all animals, including the squirrels and birds, reading, walking her dog in the park and was always up for a trip.

On Oct. 12, 1948, she married Lyndon “Shorty” Yeager in Larned, Kan. He died March 26, 2003.

Survivors include daughter, Linda (Larry) Cavanaugh, Machesney Park, Ill.; three sons, Stanley (Vicki) Yeager, Columbia, S.C., Denys (Julie) Yeager, Gates, Tenn., Galyn (Stacy) Yeager, Winfield, Kan.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Joe, Ben, A.B. Jr., Earl, Virgil and Edward Clawson; and two sisters, Marion (Ruth) Dick and Caroline Fairchild.

Cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Pawnee County Humane Society in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.  Condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
