Lewis E. Massie 1923-2011
PAXICO — Lewis E. Massie, 87, died Sunday, April 24 at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.
He was born June 3, 1923 at Highland County, Iowa, the son of John R. and Mary Hawk Massie. Massie served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Massie lived in Kansas for many years and the past several years in Paxico. He worked construction, was a truck driver and had owned and operated a service station. He was a life member of the VFW.
He was married to Vera Massie. She preceded him in death. He later married Andrea Diane Nienhuis. She survives of the home.
Survivors include two sons, Earl and Bob Massie; two daughters, Donna Harris and Barbara Jane Thompson; a sister, Connie (Jerry) Hatton; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is survived by the foster children he raised.
Cremation has taken place per Mr. Massie’s wishes and there will be no service.
