NESS CITY — Lewis J. Friess, age 85, died August 8, 2011 at Rhode Island Suites, Ransom.
He was born March 19, 1926 in Ransom, the son of Matthias and Mayme Roths Friess.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Ness City, and the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He lived in Lyons, working as a machine inspector for Krause Plow Corp. for 30 years. He moved to Ness City in 1985. He married Lois Goodfellow on April 18, 1953. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1977. He married Angela Gabel Stecklein on August 31, 1985. She survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Vince Friess and wife Brenda, Great Bend; Tim Friess and wife Brenda, Great Bend; Mark Friess, Netawaka, Kan.; and Brian Friess and wife Linda, Lyons; seven brothers, Elmer, Donald, Warren, Harold, Frederick, Daniel and Maurice; six sisters, Sister Janice (Bernadette) Friess, Anna Mae Ferguson, Mary Frances Flax, Rosella McLain, Janice Hornung, and Cathy Ator; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Matt and John; three brothers Cletus, Bernard and Eugene; and two sisters, Laurene Marvin and Marjorie Flax.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13 at Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lyons Cemetery.
A rosary is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Church. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday.
