GREAT BEND — Lillian Marie Stremel, 81, died March 29 at Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Born May 1, 1929, in Munjor, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Agnus (Schreibvogel) Pfannenstiel. On Aug. 16, 1948, she married Edwin August “Eddie” Stremel in Munjor. He died on March 31, 2000. A lifetime resident of Barton and Rush Counties, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Stremel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was an avid bowler.
Survivors include two sons, Nick Stremel and wife, Marie, Albert; and Sam Stremel and wife, Rhonda, Great Bend; three daughters, Margie Linsner and husband, Bob, Wichita; Pattie Denson, Bangor, Pa., and Vicki Gregory and husband, Terry,  Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Johanna Befort, Enid, Okla.; a brother, Frank Pfannenstiel and wife, Jeanie, Canadian, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Nick Pfannenstiel, Richard Pfannenstiel and Justin Pfannenstiel; and four sisters, Lydwina Copp, Armella Dougherty, Virginia Rome and Blanche Pfannenstiel.
An Altar Society Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m., both at Bryant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Celebrant Father Reginald A. Urban.
Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Prince of Peace Parish or Hospice of Hays or Rush County Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
