HAYS — Linda Sue Boone, 77, Hays, Kan., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kan.

Linda was born on April 10, 1944, in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Wayne Greer and Marie (Harris) Boone. She spent most of her childhood years in the Wilburton, Okla. area and graduated from Velma-Alma High School, Velma, Okla. She earned an Associate Degree in Business from Dodge City Community College and a Bachelor degree in Business from Fort Hays State University. She made her home in Hays in the 60’s, usually near her sister Mary and brother-in-law Gail. While employed in the office of Drs. Siler, Watts, and Applegate, Northwestern Office Suppliers, and Golden Plains Credit Union, she developed relationships with many people in the Ellis County area.

Linda was a long-time member of the Episcopal Church, attending St. Michael’s Church in Hays, Kan., and Saints Mary and Martha Church in Larned, Kan. She served her church in a variety of roles and cherished her time at Diocesan events. She had a heart full of generosity and lived out Jesus’ words in John 7:38, Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them. Linda donated her time and money to numerous charities, contributed faithfully to shelters, food banks, and countless fundraisers, and organized help for those who needed more than she could provide. She was also a dedicated blood bank donor. In her free time, Linda enjoyed visiting her Boone family and organizing their biennial family reunions, spoiled her great nieces and nephew, and loved to read.

Survivors include her brother-in-law Gail Schwindt of Timken; nephew Jeff Schwindt and wife Shelly of Olathe; niece Elizabeth Cole and husband Ray of Lawrence; great nieces Mallory Cobb and husband Riley of Lawrence and Emily Schwindt of Olathe; great nephew Cody Schwindt of Olathe; and a multitude of extended family and friends who lovingly knew her as Aunt Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Beth Schwindt; and several half-siblings James T. Bynum, Dorothy M. Hooper, Juanita M. Williams, Wayne G. Boone Jr, Billy T. Boone, John T. Boone, and their spouses.
