Lloyd L. McCandless

ST. JOHN — Lloyd L. McCandless, age 92, passed away on July 23, 2020 in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born on July 7, 1928 in rural St. John, Kan., the son of Calvert Cotton and Mollie  (Long) McCandless. Lloyd served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired farmer-stockman. A life-long resident of Stafford County, he was a member of the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren and Masonic Lodge. On Oct. 8, 1950, he married Ella Mae (Schrepel) at Fort Smith, Ark., she passed away in 2015. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Ann McCandless, Phoenix, Ariz., Debra Kay McCandless, Leawood, Kan.; two brothers, Donald McCandless, Cheney, Wash., George McCandless, Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren, Jared Glimcher and Zachary Glimcher. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Leonard McCandless; and a sister, Cecilia Bach.  

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020 at the Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, NW of St. John, with Pastor Tom Harrison presiding. Military graveside honors will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John, Kan. Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 14, 2020 from 1-7p.m. at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7p.m. Memorials may be given to Eden Valley Church of the Brethren in care of Minnis Chapel, P.O. Box 34, St. John, KS  67576.
