PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Lois Powell, 87, died Aug. 31, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 11, 1925.
Lois passed into the arms of her loving Lord on Aug. 31, 2012 in Great Bend. She was born on Jan. 11, 1925 to James E. and Verna (Siegfried) Crain in Philipsburg, Penn. She married Hugh W. Powell on Jan. 11, 1943.
Lois loved to cook and sew for her family and serve her Lord through Christ Methodist Church in Roselle, Del. She also loved to make knitted clothes for babies and children for the mission projects through the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Survivors include one son Mark S. Powell and wife Cathy-Lynn of Gulf Cove, Fla.; one daughter Carole Edwardson and husband Larry of Great Bend; one daughter-in-law Beth Strawbridge Powell of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Amy Edwardson, David Edwardson, Mark Powell, Jr., Daniel Powell, and Brad Ciarcia; two great-granddaughters, Delaney and Emma. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, one son, James H. Powell and one granddaughter, Susan Edwardson.
There will be no viewing as per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Private memorial services will be held at a later time. Inurnment will be at Philipsburg Cemetery in Pennsylvania. Arrangements are being handled by Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials can be made to Missionary Alliance Church CroKnitters Club in Port Charlotte, Fla. or Murdock Christian Church in Murdock, Fla. in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
