CLAFLIN — Lowell (Red) Meier entered the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Ellinwood Hospital. The son of Claus and Marie Scheuerman Meier born on the family farm near Bison, Kan., March 26, 1932. Red entered the Army on 1952, a veteran of the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1957. He worked for Northern Natural Gas (Enron) for 44 years.
On July 6, 1957 he married Carolin (Sue) Meier in Bushton, Kan. Sue entered heavens gates Feb. 2018. Red and Sue made their home in the Claflin area and were blessed with four children, Ricky, Christy, Cheryl and Byron. Red is survived by grandchildren Byron (Betsy) Landis, Courtney (Samantha) Landis, Christopher (Morgan) Isern, CayLee Isern and Cody (Anna) Isern; great grandsons Ni’Shaune, Koas’Tyne and A’lec Landis and Theodore Landis. Red was preceded in death of his two sons Ricky and Byron; sisters MaryLeen Brown, Joann Wunder and Wanda Kayartz. Additional survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Red was an avid sports fan, attending games throughout the region.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church Ellinwood, followed by burial at Bushton Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, family present 4-6.
