Marie L. Sisk   1911 - 2014

Marie L. Sisk, 103, died July 16 at her home in Great Bend. She was born April 15, 1911 at Little River, the daughter of John Edward and Sissa (Olsson) Olander.
Raised on the family farm south of Little River, Marie was one of eight children born to Swedish immigrants. She married Lawrence Alvin Sisk June 18, 1937 at Hutchinson.  He died Dec. 18, 1982. She was a secretary for Rice County Extension Office.
Mrs. Sisk was a Great Bend resident since 1952 coming from Hutchinson. She attended First Presbyterian Church, Great Bend. She enjoyed nature, flowers, and visiting Cheyenne Bottoms.
Survivors include two sons: Ronald L. Sisk and wife Janine of Lenexa and Larry W. Sisk and his wife Poldi of Rosemount, Minn.; four grandchildren: Stacy Smith and husband Chris, Tom Sisk and wife Amy, Shelby Sisk, and Sisa Sisk; four great-grandchildren: Garrett, Sophie, Calvin, and Evelyn Marie. She was proud of each and every one and their varied accomplishments. The family is grateful to Joe, Kevin, Ric, and Kole for helping Marie maintain her home, allowing her to stay there until she peacefully passed away.
Graveside service is 3 p.m. on Saturday at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson with Rev. Dr. Scott V. Solether officiating. Visitation is from noon until 9 p.m., Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or Barton County Food Bank or Meals on Wheels, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
