Marilee M. Paynter 1923 - 2019
OTIS — Marilee M. Paynter, age 96 years, longtime Otis, Kan. resident, passed away on Sunday evening, Dec. 22, 2019 at Medicalodges of Great Bend in Great Bend, Kan. Marilee was born on Nov. 20, 1923 at Lincoln, Kan. to Golden A. and Maud Mae (Mannen) Morris. She was united in marriage to Lee F. Paynter on May 4, 1943 at the Congregational Christian Church in Lincoln, Kan., and the couple made their home in Alton, Kan. for many years prior to moving to Otis in 1952. Marilee was a homemaker for her family and also was her husband’s secretary for many years in his business Sunflower Insulation, Termite & Pest Control. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, and spending time with her family. Marilee was a member of the United Methodist Church in both Alton and later in Otis.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen (and his wife, Karen) Paynter of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael (and his wife, Christine) Paynter of Hendersonville, N.C., and Robert (and his wife, Katherine) Paynter of Bremerton, Wash.; one daughter, Janet (and her husband, Larry) Webb of England, Ark.; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Marilee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee F. Paynter in 1986; one brother and two sisters.
Cremation has been selected and private family inurnment will be held in the Otis Methodist Cemetery. Memorial Services are planned for Spring of 2020.
