Mark Bomgardner, 1963-2014

HUTCHINSON — Mark A. Bomgardner, 51, of Hutchinson, went home to be with his Savior, July 27 at Reno County Hospice House.  He may have lost his battle with cancer, but he conquered the grave when he accepted Christ as his savior.  He was born May 31, 1963 in Joplin, MO, the son of Bob and Judy Allen Bomgardner.  He was a 1981 graduate of Dodge City High School, and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Fort Hays State University.  He was a Hutchinson resident for the past 15 years moving from Great Bend.
He was the Assistant Deputy Director for the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, prior to that he had served with the Great Bend Police Department.  He was a member of Crosspoint Church, Hutchinson.  Mark loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as playing golf, traveling (especially cruises), and listening to his 70’s and 80’s music.  He was also passionate about his Crosspoint Church family, often serving “behind the scenes”.
On June 15, 1985 he married Karla Classen in Minneola, she survives.  Other survivors include his children; Connor Bomgardner, Wichita, Braedon Bomgardner and Allison Bomgardner, both of Hutchinson, two brothers Stephen Bomgardner and partner, Carlyle Sharpe, Springfield, Mo., Rich Bomgardner and wife Mona, Wichita, sister, Stacy Pinkerton and husband Chris, Derby, mother-in-law, Darlene Marshall, Minneola, father-in-law, Ralph Classen and wife Ann, Meade, brother-in-law, Randall Classen and wife LeAnn, Meade, step-brother-in-law, Dale Loder and wife Amy, Spearville, step-sister-in-law, Dena Hurley and husband Travis, Joplin, Mo., nephews and nieces; Kyle and Kirk Bomgardner, Samuel, Oliver, Ethan and Camille Pinkerton, Randsom Classen, Logan Green, Sheldon and Malesa Osborn and daughters, Abrielle and Karstyn, Allana and Blake Loder, Andrea, Nathan, Rebecca and Caleb Hurley.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday at Crosspoint Church with Pastors Andy Addis and Dustin Busick presiding.  Private family graveside will be held.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials may be given to Crosspoint Church in care of the funeral home.  Visit www.PenwellGabelHutchinson.com to leave the family a personal message.
