STERLING — Martha L. Knight, 77, died Sept. 21, 2016, at Presbyterian Manor, Sterling. Born Oct. 6, 1938, in Hoisington she was the daughter of Harry Oliver and Esther Layle Howell Martin. On Sept. 25, 1958, she married Robert Knight at Lyons. He proceeded her in death on Oct. 31, 1984. She was a Sterling resident for 53 years. She was a bookkeeper and clerk at Brock Pharmacy and also was a dog breeder.
Mrs. Knight was a member First Christian Church, Hoisington; American Kennel Club; Chihuahua Club of America; Rice County District Hospital volunteer; 4-H Fair Judge and Kansas State Fair Judge for dogs.
Survivors include one Daughter, Sheri Loftus, Tremont, PA; four Brothers, Mike and Nancy Martin, Pratt, Doug and Janice Martin, Larned, Gary Martin, Kevin and Laura Martin both of Hoisington; four Sisters, Jeanie and LeRoy Donavon, Hoisington, Debbie Lebbin Manhattan, Cindy Martin, Becky Booth, both of Great Bend; three Grandchildren, Erin Loftus, Calla Loftus, Casey Loftus; four Great-Grandchildren. Brody Sophy, Levi Sophy, Cole Gradwell, Wyatt Tripp. She was preceded in death by her Parents.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, Sept. 24, at Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling with Rev. Kendal Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
