CLAFLIN — Marvella J. Radenberg, 75, died Oct. 19 at Rice County District Hospital, Lyons. She was born Dec. 26, 1934, at Great Bend, the daughter of Alfred B. and Edith S. (Lebbin) Rusco. Marvella married Glenn Radenberg April 20, 1958, at Great Bend. She retired as a nurse practitioner and RN. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1953, then graduating from the Dominican Sisters’ school of nursing as an RN, then graduating with the first class of nurse practitioners in Kansas, at the University of Kansas, and supported the nurse practitioners’ Alumni Association. She was a resident of Independent Township since 1958.
Mrs. Radenberg was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holyrood and a former Sunday school superintendent, a member of the Hoisington Swinging Stars Square Dance Club, and was an active 4-H leader and an accomplished musician.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn, of the home; three sons, John Radenberg and wife Debbie, David Radenberg and wife Maxine, and Mark Radenberg and wife Mary, all of Claflin; two sisters, Karen Baldwin of Junction City and Renee Pike of Great Bend; grandchildren Skylar Radenberg Lauren, William Radenberg, James Radenberg, J.C. Radenberg, Sharon Radenberg, Alice Radenberg, Johnathan Radenberg, Brandon Radenberg and Alexandria "Rose" Radenberg; and great-grandchildren Riley and Randi Radenberg. She was preceded in death by a brother, A. Wayne Rusco.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Holyrood, with Pastor Debbie Rains and Pastor Gene Langhofer officiants. Interment will be at the Claflin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington;and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Donations to memorial funds for St. Paul United Church of Christ, Claflin United Methodist Church or the Claflin Ambulance Fund may be made in care of the funeral home.
