Mary Elizabeth Henkle, 80, died on Oct. 21 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 9, 1934, in Burlington she was the daughter of Charles William and Hazel Loretta (Doll) Reynolds. On Feb. 12, 1950, she married Carl W. Henkle in Holyrood. A resident of Great Bend since 1953, coming from Ellsworth County, she was employed by Sears in the customer service department, retiring after more than 30 years of service.
Mrs. Henkle was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include her husband, Carl W. Henkle, of the home; one son, Bob Henkle and his wife Cheryl of Gardner; three daughters, Carlon White and her husband Rick of Wasilla, Alaska, Sandy Berges and her husband Reen, and Sarah Crawford Henkle, both of Great Bend; one brother, Robert Reynolds of Springdale, Ark.; four sisters, Helen Frew of Portland, Ore., Anita of Joplin, Mo., Shirley Grenegar, of Joplin, Mo., and Cathy Peters of Junction City; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lyman; one brother, Bill Reynolds; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Mark P. Galbraith officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, at Bryant Funeral Home.
