Mary Lee “Mickey” Carpenter

Mary Lee “Mickey” Carpenter, 85, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her home. She was born March 8, 1935, in Lawrence the daughter of William and Alice (Crane) Hadl. Mickey was united in marriage to M. John Carpenter on May 2, 1953 at Ottawa. He passed away Sept. 21, 2004.

Mickey has been a resident of Great Bend since 1964, coming from Lawrence. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Barton Ladies Golf Association, Stoneridge Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, tennis, playing the organ, gardening, and bird watching. She also had her pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. Mickey was a gourmet cook, and had a cook book published.

Survivors include two daughters Chris Klima (Dale), Gail Carpenter (Jane)  all of Great Bend; sister Darlene “Dolly” Carpenter (Robert) of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren Deena Smith (Christopher) and Kelly Klima (Darah); five great grandchildren Brayden Smith, Riley Smith, Adelle Smith, Karson Klima and Demi Klima; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and 11 brothers and sisters; and her son-in-law Dale Klima.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday July 29, 2020 with family present 5 to 7 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday July 30, 2020, at Trinity  Lutheran Church with Rev. Barbara Jones presiding. Masks will be required at the church. Burial will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Chasing Tails Rescue, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
