Maurice J. Damm, 81, died April 19 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. Born June 17, 1933 at Great Bend, he was the son of Hugo L. and Louise (Shepherd) Damm.
He married Kaye Fox Rupp August 22, 1972 at Woodward, Okla. A lifetime Great Bend, Kan., resident, Mr. Damm was a former oilfield worker and for the past 40 years had been self-employed as owner of Damm Rentals, building, purchasing, and remodeling residential and commercial properties throughout Great Bend. He had a deep interest in anything mechanical and had a love of classic and specialty cars and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Damm, of the home; three sons: Cortenay Damm and his wife Carla of Great Bend, Troy Rupp and Peggy of Ellis, and Ty Rupp and Theresa of Ellis; one sister, Louise Witte of Montrose, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Ethan Damm and Ellie Damm. He was preceded in death by brother, Hugo Harold Damm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. The celebrant will be Father Ted Stoecklein. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.,Wednesday, April 22 at Bryant Funeral Home.
