SPRING, Texas — Maxine Ruth (Darnell) Campbell, 84, died May 19 at her home in Spring, Texas. 
She was born March 2, 1927 in Graham County near Bogue, Kan., the daughter of Earl T. and Bernice (Irwin) Darnell.
Maxine worked as a steno-clerk for Continental Oil in Plainville and transferred to Great Bend. She worked for Champlin Petroleum in Ellinwood.  She worked in Oklahoma City and Houston, Texas, where she retired in 1989.
She was married to Ray Campbell on May 5, 1951 in Hays. He preceded her in death December 27, 2000.
Maxine was a member of the Methodist Church and her life was dedicated to family and friends. She enjoyed working and was active with the Desk and Derrick clubs. She enjoyed playing cards and fishing. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
Preceding her in death were brothers Bill and Ernest Darnell; sisters Hope Denton and Marge Oliver, a son-in-law, a grandchild and a great grandchild.
Survivors include a son, Ron Campbell and wife Barbara, Spring, Texas; a daughter, Ronda Zecha and husband Ron, Great Bend; a sister, Helen DeGarmo, Wasilla, Alaska; a brother, Gary Darnell, Plainville; four granddaughters, and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. May 22 at Klein Funeral Chapel, Spring, Texas. A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. May 23 at Klein Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Morland Township Cemetery near Bogue.
