TIMKEN — Maye Pechanec, 87, died Jan. 3 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. Born Oct. 10. 1923, she was the daughter of Mart and Jennie (Watkins) West. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a 1941 graduate of Alexander High School. On Aug. 8, 1944, she married Edward F. Pechanec at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. He died Dec. 3, 2005. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Pechanec was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken.

Survivors include two sons, Gregg Pechanec of Hays and Tim Pechanec of Paola; a daughter, Janet Palmer of Topeka; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Trinity Catholic Church in Timken, with the Rev. Rene Labrador officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Timken. Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. A vigil service and rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also visit from 9:30-10:20 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Altar Society in Timken or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
