GREAT BEND — Melvin Dean “Mel” Klusener, 80, died Dec. 16, 2015 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born Dec. 9, 1935, the son of William H. and Alice (Bachman) Klusener.
He married Sharon Davis June 30, 1963 at Hays. He worked for Marlette Homes and Southard Corporation.
Mr. Klusener was a Great Bend resident. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Antique Car Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 646, all of Great Bend, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Hoisington. He especially enjoyed antique cars, his grandchildren and spending time at the lake.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Klusener, of the home; a son: Jason Klusener and his wife Jan, Hutchinson; a brother, Kenneth Klusener, Hoisington; three grandchildren, Mandy Snyder and her husband Ricky, South Hutchinson; Matt Klusener and his wife Carrie, Wichita; and McCaulley Klusener and companion Mariah Childs, Manhattan; a great-grandchild, Mya Snyder and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by a son, Myron Klusener; and a sister, Wilma.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with The Reverend Richard B. Monson officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home.
