INMAN — Michael E. “Mike” Keating, 67, passed away January 2, 2020 at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was born June 24, 1952 in Great Bend, KS, the son of Emerson Elmer and Lucille Marie (Heany) Keating. Mike was a 1971 graduate of Great Bend High School, and he graduated from Fort Hays State University with a communications degree.
Mike was a salesman in the oil and agriculture fields. He enjoyed the farm life being surrounded by cattle and nature, and his joy was keeping everything mowed and looking nice, along with his flowers. Mike was involved in getting the Inman Wellness Center started and served on the board for several years. He attended Buhler Mennonite Church.
Survivors include his sister, Jan (Larry) Westfall of Great Bend; fiancée, Patricia Smith of Great Bend; nieces and nephews, Joie (Matt) Karcher, and son Ryan, of Colleyville, TX, David (Mika) Keating, and children Emerson & Dayla, of Oakland, CA, Michael (Jennie) Keating, and children, Brecken & Ella, of Haysville, KS and Melissa (Steve) Ayers, and children Jacob & Luke, of Scottsdale, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Reverend Warren Keating.
Friends may sign the book Monday, January 6, 2020 from 1-4 p.m. The casket will remain closed. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Buhler Mennonite Church with Pastor Wilmar Harder presiding. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend with Pastor Arlyn Thielenhaus presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buhler Mennonite Church or Buhler Mortuary for funeral expenses, both in care of Buhler Mortuary, P.O. Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
