Michael James “Mike” Keenan, 81, died June 6 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 7, 1930, at Great Bend, he was the son of William Patrick and Flora Belle Ridge (Sargent) Keenan. On Sept. 16, 1951, he married Myrla C. Walter in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a production foreman for Petroleum Management Inc.
Mr. Keenan was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Legion Argonne Post 180 for more than 50 years, in Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Myrla C. Keenan, of the home; two sons, Evan Keenan and his wife Nicki of Houston, Texas and Kent Keenan and his wife Roxann of Great Bend; one daughter, Valerie Hardy and her husband Mark of Sherman, Texas; nine grandchildren, Cory Keenan, Megan Keenan, Morgan Wagner and her husband Daniel, Kristin Dancy, Brooke Corbin and her husband Greg, Austin Hardy, Ryan Hardy, Andrew Keenan, and Adam Keenan; and three great-grandchildren, Kiefer Corbin, Tristen Corbin, and Kenli Hardy.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Great Bend Cemetery Directory Fund in care of the funeral home.
