Mildred Bean, 97, died March 8 at Country Place Senior Living, Ellinwood. She was born Aug. 21, 1914 at Jetmore the daughter of Lloyd M. and Ethel M. (McGee) Scothorn.
She married Jay W. Bean June 29, 1933 at LaCrosse. He died March 7, 1963. She was a clerk at the Dodge City Dillon’s store and was a pastry clerk in various Dillon’s locations.
Mrs. Bean was a Great Bend resident since 1977 coming from Pueblo, Colo. She was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include one son Paul Bean and his wife Norma of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Gregory Bean and Paula Schwartzkopf; and one greatgrandson: Jay Schwartzkopf.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Scothorn and Raleigh Scothorn, and one sister, Mae Ashley.
Graveside memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. The Rev. Jeff Hiers will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place
