Mildred J. Schenk 1924-2011
HOISINGTON — Mildred J. Schenk, 86, died April 13 at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina.
She was born November 5, 1924 at Ness County, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Martha (Corrigan) Ludington.
She married Clifton Helt in 1943 at Great Bend. He died July, 1976. She married Bill Daniel, May 9, 1970, at Hoisington. He died March 1, 1979. She married Robert Schenk, December 10, 1988. He died March 8, 2006.
She was a resident of Hoisington since 1951 coming from Great Bend. She worked for the Hoisington Hospital, retiring as a nurse’s aide after 22 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society both of Hoisington.
Survivors include three daughters, Martha Haberman and husband, Alvin, Great Bend; Jacque Byers and husband, Jim, Salina; and Susie Strosnider and husband, Mike, Salina; a sister, Rose Cook, Thornton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Helt, infant twin brothers, Richard and Robert Ludington, and a sister, Katherine Foster.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Officiant Father Dwight Birket. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with an Altar Society rosary at 7 p.m. all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Interment will be at St. John Church Cemetery, Hoisington.
