LACROSSE — Mildred L. Carper Ideker, 84, died April 27 at the Rush County Hospital Long Care in LaCrosse. Born Aug. 9, 1926 in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of Rueben and Bertha (Bercy) Beach. She was a graduate of Eureka High School. A resident of Rush County for more than 50 years, she was the owner of Carper Drug in LaCrosse from 1956 to 1968.
Ms. Ideker was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary #3147 and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in LaCrosse, and the Pitch Club in Timken.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Carper of Great Bend; two daughters, Tammi Sramek of LaCrosse and Vicki Kerns of Maize; two sisters, Helen Fankhauser of Garden City and Alice Lewis of Wichita; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three great-grandsons, Wyatt Fischer, Austin Fischer and Blake Basgall; a brother, Raymond Beach; and a sister, Evelyn Teegarten.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse with the Rev. Patricia Reep officiating. Burial will be at the LaCrosse City Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in LaCrosse.
