Mildred Oleta Elliott, 94, died March 24, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 5, 1917 in Medford, Okla., she was the daughter of John Wesley and Lillie Belle (Wykes) Wisehart. On June 12, 1932 she married Harry W. Elliott in Hays. He died Dec. 24, 1997. A Great Bend resident since 1938, coming from Ransom, she was a secretary for the Barton County Courthouse and the County Superintendent of Schools.

Mrs. Elliott was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Great Bend Senior Center Board, the American Legion Auxiliary, where she held all offices, 8 & 40, Past President of Women’s Auxiliary, WIBC, where she held all offices, the Great Bend Bowling Hall of Fame, and hosted the state tournament twice, and a Girl Scout Leader. She was a volunteer at Central Kansas Medical Center and a Red Cross blood donor, having given more than one gallon.

Survivors include a son, Robert Dean Elliott of Great Bend; a daughter, Lois Hickel of Salina; a sister, Eileen Dreiling of Ventura, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Darold Dean Elliott; a daughter, Joan Delores Keener; two brothers, John Wesley Wisehart and Clarence Wisehart; and a sister, Evelyn Lois Duffey.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Great Bend Senior Center or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice in care of the funeral home.
