Nathalie J. Schaben, 84, died June 22 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. Born Feb. 19, 1928, at the family farm in Ness County, she was the daughter of William “Bill” and Lois (McDonald) Borger.
She was raised in Ness City and was a graduate of Ness City High School. She married Lyle E. Schaben on Feb. 15, 1947, at Bazine. A Great Bend resident since 2005, coming from Bazine, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Schaben was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle E. Schaben, of the home; one son, Kenneth Schaben and his wife Connie of Hays; two daughters, Yolanda Schaben and her husband Johnny, and Patti Amerine and her husband Martin, both of Great Bend; two brothers, Rod Borger of Ness City and Tim Borger of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Joanne Stenzel and Shelby Kay Seib, both of Ness City; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marjorie Sackett; and one grandson, Greg Schaben.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 25, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m., Monday at Bazine Cemetery, Bazine. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the funeral home.
