Norma Lea McCurdy 1928 - 2012


KELLER, Texas — Norma Lea McCurdy, 84, died July 2, 2012 at Baylor Regional Medical Center-Grapevine in Grapevine, Texas.
Born April 27, 1928 in Albert, she was the daughter of William F. and Clella M. (Parker) Folkerts. On July 4, 1946, she married Roy J. McCurdy in Great Bend. He died on July 8, 1999. A resident of Keller, Texas since 2005, coming from Great Bend, where she came in 1958 moving from Albert, she enjoyed work as a sales clerk, homemaker and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, watching baseball and listening to country western music.
Mrs. McCurdy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, where she was baptized and confirmed, and later became a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church after moving to Great Bend. She was an active Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary member.
Survivors include two daughters, Klela C. McCurdy, Frisco, Texas; and Zola M. Young, Keller, Texas; a brother, Vernon G. Folkerts, Frisco, Texas; two grandchildren, Sonja Turner and Lindsey Young; two great-grandchildren, Emma Heard and Samuel Heard; and a nephew, Don A. Folkerts.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William W. Folkerts.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery south of Albert officiated by Pastor Adam Wutka. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Peace Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
