OWASSO, Oklahoma — Ollie Annette Guthrie, 83, passed away on March 9, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on September 6, 1938, in Webb City, Okla., to Wiley Albert and Olive Irene (Snyder) Burns. She married Bob Lee Guthrie September 6, 1958, in Ponca City, Okla. He died August 9, 1998.

A resident of Owasso, Okla., she worked for Guthrie Steaming and Service, Inc. in Great Bend as an owner, secretary and treasurer until selling the company and retiring. She moved to Oklahoma to be closer to more family members and started volunteering her time at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum as a guide and salesperson for memberships. She quickly acquired a salaried/commissioned position after becoming the company’s top salesperson for new members. 

Ollie Annette Guthrie attended the Assembly of God Church in Owasso. She also enjoyed attending A Glorious Church in Collinsville, Okla., with her sister Darlene. She cherished the weekly divine conversations with her neighbors whom she loved dearly. She also enjoyed playing Bunco with her neighbors and nearby ladies who labeled themselves the Beautiful Bunco Babes. One of her milestone memories was the trip she took to Jerusalem to visit the Holy Land with her sister and daughter-in-law. She engaged in volunteer work rescuing abused dogs and any animal in need. 

Annette admired Elvis Presley and had visited Graceland on numerous occasions. Another of her favorite artists was Merle Haggard who she was able to meet and have her picture taken with. One of her most loved and cherished activities was spending time with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grand kids. 

Survivors include one son, Britt (Amy) Guthrie of Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Terri (Randy) Gorney of Oswego, Kan., and Shawn Guthrie of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Darlene Bricker of Collinsville, Okla., and Imogene (David) Harrell of The Villages, Fla.; two brothers, Lester Burns of Stillwater, and Larry (Donna) Burns of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Jason McAnulla, Jeremy McAnulla, Shane Gorney, Jerad Gorney, Garrett Guthrie and Gavin Guthrie; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a daughter, Mauna Dee Guthrie.

Public visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kan., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at Encounter Church (First Assembly of God) in Great Bend, with Pastor Jake Newman presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to SPCA International (Global Animal Rescue) and Encounter Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
