LARNED — Patricia Louise Turpin Hesher, 93, was born to Harold Thomas Turpin and Phyliss Artilee Bement Turpin on July 15th, 1928 in Kansas City, Mo. Patti passed away on Sept. 17, 2021 in Larned.
Patti and Wayne Hesher met in Kansas City at a hospital while he was recovering from an operation. Patti arranged to deliver meals to him while he was recuperating. The two were united in marriage on April 20th, 1952 in Kansas City, Mo. Patti and Wayne’s union produced four surviving children, Ed of Amarillo, Texas, Tom of Larned, Kan., Sandy (Gary) Chelcun of Estes Park, Colo. and Mike, Estes Park, Colo.; one granddaughter Talisha (Tyler) Dennison of Wellsville, Kan.; one great granddaughter, Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patti was preceded in death by Wayne on Nov. 28th, 2014; her parents; brother Richard Turpin; and a sister, Eleanor Arnold.
Patti graduated from Saint Luke’s Nursing school in KCMO before becoming a psychiatric aid instructor at Larned State Hospital for many years. With sports-oriented parents, Patti was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Kansas Jayhawks. Patti and Wayne enjoyed time at their summer cabin in Estes Park, Colo. and after retirement spent many winters in Arizona and Texas. Patti also loved to tend to her rose garden, read and bake chip chocolate cookies.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned at this time. Memorials may be given to United Methodist Women or Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550. Condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
