Patricia Rutherford Keil, 86, of Great Bend, died Oct. 19 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born May 17, 1924, at Gardner, Mass., the daughter of Howard and Mary (Rutherford) Browne. She married Luther Calvin Keil on April 21, 1947, at Folkston, Ga. She attended Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Mass., and was on the editing staff. She then attended San Jose State College, receiving honors as a member of Key Club. She was a proofreader for the Escondido, Calif., Times Advocate and a sales clerk at Macy’s, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Keil was a Great Bend resident since 2009, coming from Framingham, Mass.
Mrs. Keil was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Republican Women’s Club and the Massachusetts State Association of Emblem Clubs. She was an avid writer.
Survivors include her husband, Luther Calvin Keil, of the home; a cousin, Charles Daris and wife Ann Marie of Falls Church, Va., and a niece, Andrea Howell. She was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Browne.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home, with the Rev. Adam Wutka officiant. Interment will be at Golden Belt Cemetery, Great Bend. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations to a memorial fund for the American Alzheimer’s Association may be made in care of the funeral home.
