CUMBERLAND, Md. — Paul Shook, 87, of Cumberland, Md., passed away Dec. 19 at the Western Maryland Regional Health Center. Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of Casper A. and Susan (Bobo) Shook.
He was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Cumberland, Md. He also worked at the B&O. Mr. Shook enjoyed collecting coins, trains and Hess trucks. He also enjoyed working in his basement tearing scrap metal apart. He liked watching football and was a Steeler fan.
Mr. Shook was a World War II Veteran. He served in the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, Veterans of Foreign Wars Cumberland Outdoor Club, and the Goodfellowship Club, all in Cumberland, Md.
Survivors include his six children, Paul E. Shook and wife Pam, Jeff Shook, and Roger Shook, all of Cumberland, Gary Shook and wife Marriann, of Hoisington, Jennifer Penrod and husband Dave, and Carlotta Mannring and husband Curt, of Newport News, Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Knoche of Cumberland and LaVonne Miller and husband Jim of Woodbine; one brother, Ronald Shook of Akron, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and one brother-in-law. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Genevieve (Twigg) Shook; one brother Jerry Shook; and two sisters, Mildred Daughbaugh and Betty Spriggs.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel with Pastor Larry Green officiating.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave, from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. Military honors will be accorded by Post 13 honor guard.
