Pearl Irene White, 89, died July 16, 2017, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born May 31, 1928, at Ellinwood, the daughter of Joseph A. and Wilhelmine “Minnie” (Rose) Hershey. She married Clifford Eugene White Oct. 30, 1946, at Great Bend. He died Jan. 20, 1993. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mrs. White was a bookkeeper for Wagner Trucking.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3111 Auxiliary, serving as president for several years. She took in many foster kids.
Survivors include her companion, Bill Mortimer; two sons, Leonard J. White and his wife Sheryl of Goddard, and Leroy Denney and Christy Reynolds of Wichita; three daughters, Rebecca Carlson of Great Bend, Connie Ashley and her husband Bob of Great Bend, and Gladys Snow of Ellinwood; one daughter-in-law, Christy Denney of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Nikki Meade, Amanda Fields, Steve Snook, Oliver Snook, Chris Carlson, Tina Creamer, Tracy McClure, Brandon White and Clifford White; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Louis T. Hershey, one sister, Mary Ellen Hershey, and one grandson, Bradley Carlson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Jon Brudvig officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with Kans for Kids or Shriners Hospital for Children, in care of the funeral home.
