ABILENE — Rex I. Roth, 47, died July 29 in Abilene. He was born Oct. 17, 1964, in Garden City, the son of Robert L. and Benji S. (Smith) Roth. Growing up in Great Bend, Lincoln and Herington, he attended local schools, graduated Herington High School with the class of 1983, and attended Barton County Community College. On Dec. 23, 1994, he married Linda D. Hillyard. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. He was employed by Great Plains Manufacturing Land Pride Division of Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, daughters Brittany and Savannah Roth, and sons Jackson and Trenton Roth, all of Abilene; his mother, Benji Sheldon and stepfather Fred of Abilene; his father, Robert Roth and stepmother Carolyn of Great Bend; and one brother, Tracy Roth and wife Tammi of Herington. Other survivors include stepsisters Sharon Collins and husband Graham of Gorham, Sheila Smither and husband Dwayne of Great Bend, and Betty Manolkis and husband Tom of Bennett, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Emmanuel Church in Abilene with the Rev. Stan Norman officiating. Interment was in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to his children’s education fund, in care of the funeral home.
